Electric vehicle adoption reaches tipping point
For the first time, electric vehicles outsold petrol and diesel cars in Norway, the Netherlands, and Sweden during the first quarter of 2026. Battery pack costs have fallen below $80 per kilowatt-hour, making EVs price-competitive without subsidies. The EU charging network has expanded to over 500,000 public fast-chargers, and automakers including Volkswagen and Stellantis have announced plans to phase out new ICE production in Europe by 2030.
